DO NOT POST QUESTIONS ON TECHNICAL ISSUES HERE!

The only APPROPRIATE technical comments on this page are those that are TOTALLY UNRELATED to any existing article on this site!

Examples of comments that are appropriate here:

  • Administrative issues with this site – something will not work properly.
  • Suggestions for improvement of the site in general – not how a particular page or guide might be improved.
  • Totally UNRELATED technical questions. (E.g., issues with hardware that we have never reported about.)  Unfortunately, that probably means that we do not have that hardware and support would be difficult or impossible.

For TECHNICAL QUESTIONS, you MUST post your COMMENT on the article related to your question. Here is why:

  • It is likely that you are not the only person who has experienced your particular problem. Therefore, your question may have already been answered in an existing article – or a comment to one of our articles. Be certain to read both the articles AND the associated comments.
  • Use the SEARCH button (upper right) to find existing answers to your questions.
  • If you have a question about a particular piece of hardware, please leave a COMMENT on a page that is related to that hardware.
  • If you are having trouble with some technology that we have reviewed or reported on, then post your comment on the review or a related article.
  • Good form: Comments posted in related areas allow everyone to search and see the question & answer and others will benefit.
  • Bad form: Comments posted here are generally unseen by users seeking answers to the same (or similar) issues as you own.
  • EVEN IF I DO RESPOND TO A RESPOND TO YOUR TECHNICAL QUESTION HERE, it will be very limited. Real answers are ONLY provided to technical questions when they are posted to a technical article.

Since you are asking for help with a personal issue, please consider making a DONATION first (use the button in the right panel – to send cash via PayPal).

Individual, personal requests require extra time and effort on Ray’s part. Your financial help will be appreciated.

Your problems sounds like you are NOT using the original power-plug. Are you? If not, you will need to have one in order to fully charge the Nook. Please continue the comments on one of the NOOK ARTICLES.

I currently have an 8gb Nook Tablet on which I put the CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.8 and was dumb enough not to create a backup file from which I could recover. I have desperately followed many of your tutorials trying to restore the original software, but to no avail. When I make a boot image, it doesn’t boot and goes to the CWM screen. I get immediate errors going into the CWM and they are as follows:
    “E:Can’t mount /cache/recovery/command”
    “E:Can’t mount /cache/recovery/log”
    “E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/log”
    “E:Can’t mount /cache/recovery/last_log”
    “E:Can’t open /cache/recovery/last_log”

Internal Memory Problem??? Not really sure. This looping through the CWM screen, not booting, and not performing basic CWM operations has me befuddled and I could really use your help. Sorry if you discover the solution is a simple one and I haven’t been able to find it.

Any help or redirection to the proper tutorial is much appreciated…

Great work that you and your group are doing Ray. Thank You!
Has anyone else gotten stuck with a recurring pop up that reads “trebuchet has stopped”? How can we avoid this?
Posted in the wrong area. Please post technical questions on the related articles. I have no way to know what device you have. – Ray

Ray, great video on installing drh ics 4.0. I am experiencing the lag issue. I have found these settings: 3. Reduce the no. of Background Processes to 1 or 2.
    4. Check the Destroy Activities … option.
    But cannot find these settings:
    1. Reduce dalvik VM heap size for apps to 64M.
    2. Reduce the free memory setting to 50MB.
Can you shed some light for me?
    Thanks.

  7. George Gibbs says:

    Ray,
I contributed when I used your information to reroot my gtab with honeycomb or gcomb (I can’t remember which). Since doing that I’ve had to use the early versions of Overdrive to read the library eloan books. The more recent versions of Overdrive result in off center pages so they are unreadable. Got any easy solutions for this?

    George

    • Ray says:

Sounds like the application is not designed to run properly on the screen size that you have on your gtab. Did you try it in both orientations (portrait and landscape)?
Download a “DPI Changer” app and try to change to a different size. Read the cautions associated with the various apps and beware.

    • George Gibbs says:

      George Gibbs again,
I tried a DPI changer that didn’t help. I’m using gtabcomb_b3.3_bl1.2. If I updated my os would that help? Is there an easy way to do that since I’ve already rooted this tablet? I see your blog talking about Jelly Bean. What about that? Glad to read about your surgery recovery.

  8. John Anderson says:

Hi just wanted to say thank you for the gtablet instructions. I had tried a couple of other ROM’s and my gtab was stuck, unable to apply factory updates. The CM10 instructions were the ticket to get me up and running again.

  9. Greg says:

Hey – just a quick thank you.

I was trying to root and add CM7 to my kid’s NT16GB, and ended up bricking it to the point it wouldn’t turn on. I followed your instructions to unbrick. It looks like it is working.

Thanks again. A note to anyone else in this position – this method works.

  10. Dave Sm says:

    Ray,
Just a note to let you know there is an after market company in California that sells the docking station for the GTab for $60.00. The plug-in connection for the Tab is weak and often breaks (so they tell me)
I broke mine off after 14 months, and called Viewsonic. They gave me the number to contact, so that’s probalby te best way to contact them. At least that is caheaper than buying a new GTab. Also, I am a cancer survivor and a retired pastor. Just to let you know that we are praying for you. God is great.
    Dave

    • Ray says:

Thanks. But, the GTab is getting very outdated and putting that kind of money in it is not wise (IMHO). Better to spend $200 for a new Nexus 7 (I have TWO) that supports it natively – PLUS a WORLD of additional features and value that the GTab cannot possibly compare.

Great video! The video was easy to understand. Have you ever heard of any app where you can watch TV for free? Any information you have about the TV app will be appreciated.

  12. Armando Montes De Oca III says:

OK ray I got your gapps to install and I am seeing if google play will work. You can ignore everything else before this. Ok It works and google music is the problem now I will find an alternate.
Thank you for your mod. Sorry if I wrote to much and it bugs you.

  13. Armando Montes De Oca says:

Ray I figured out how to get the list of gapps latest version called up in goomanager. I was hoping for the latest play store that would work. I deleted the play store after it was crashing. I totally don’t know the steps to install the play store app. On my nook that is.
